Hi. I apologize for things taking a long time. I finally got the minutes up in the beta group, but like I said, I would do things in both places until the community group was working well.

I want to thank all of you for pushing me to learn to work with Google Docs, because they have done some amazing work to make them screen-reader friendly. Never did I think it was possible to jump up and down over the ability to make headings and bulleted lists, but I was jumping up and down.

The google doc is at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fnJwRsjVlwzTZo13UP0NaARSKSBeSBaOKG3VKGFvzIw/edit?usp=sharing

The screen-reader support is good, but it is not perfect, as evidenced by the possibility that I may have slightly broken the document in an attempt to fix it more. I have much to learn.

Since I took a coon's age to get this up, we can always extend the testing time for people who want to be beta testers.

Thanks again for your patience.

Carin

Thank you, Carin.

The other useful feature of Google Docs is Voice Typing (under the Tools menu).

I have run some informal tests on this, and found it to be a very acceptable alternative to Dragon.
In the UK, the government funds much of the assistive software for Higher Ed students, but there can be a big delay between the recommendation for the software and computer and the student receiving it. This Voice Typing tool has plugged the gap nicely. I also recommended it last week when I had a student who had fallen and broken his arm on ice. He was a researcher and finding he just couldn't type with the fingers of his left hand. Showed him voice typing and leapt from his seat! I was scared he was going to fall and break the other arm!!!! Had to beg him to sit down again so I could finish the training......

All the Best
Ros
